I guess the only way to classify this as a type of bastard sword, but those familiar with DnD might call it "exotic". It's big, heavy, has difficult weight distribution and is HIGHLY unwieldy. But if you're somebody who likes getting a workout when you spar or cosplay, this is a good one for you.
The handle spacing puts it somewhere between a sword and a spear as far as manipulation, which means the cuts you can accomplish with it will be a little different, but the handguard is really useful for defense, and counteracts the sheer unwieldiness of it a little.
